Origins Background

Origins was developed in the UK after extensive data collection and research. Through a research partnership with University College London and a project funded by the UK’s Economic and Social Research Council, it was demonstrated that a person’s origin could be reasonably inferred from their name.

Drawing on this experience, Professor Richard Webber internationalised the name pool and developed batch name evaluation software. This has resulted in the Origins product.
