How to Access Origins
The benefits of Origins can be delivered through an outsourced consulting service or, more commonly, through the licensed use of software and data.
Consulting
Service Engagement
OriginsInfo combines expertise and experience to assist organisations to understand their levels of engagement with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds. The service delivers detailed insight about how well the brand reaches out to all segments of Australia’s multicultural society.
This basic service can be enhanced by reporting on profiles of particular product, channel or behavioural subsets. Delivery occurs through a personal presentation of results, a review of business implications, and a consideration of potential marketing or business opportunities.
Similarly, the service may include the delivery of customised maps and geographically-referenced ranking tables indicating the location of and distribution core market segments of particular interest.
Pricing varies according to specification of requirements and a quotation can be developed to meet the needs of individual organisations. Note that as part of this service, Origins codes for individual customers are not supplied to the client organisation.
Licensing
OriginsInfo offers an in-house ‘licence to use’ solution. A licence provides the right to use the Origins software and data across the client organisation for the term of the licence - normally an initial period of two or three years.
Origins can be configured in several ways to meet each organisation’s specific requirements.
Origins Desktop Software
The most common entry point for organisations is to licence the core Origins software for use on standard Windows-based PC technology. The software accepts standard text files for input, processes according to specified options, generates summary reports, and exports coded records for further analysis and presentation.
On contemporary hardware specifications, the software assigns codes to normal files at the rate of 6 million records in less than half an hour.
Coding rates in excess of 99.5% can be expected and we set accuracy levels averaging in the 80-85% range – somewhat higher for Anglo-Celtic, Vietnamese and Chinese names.
Licensing the package is supported with on-site installation, training, free updates to new releases for software and data, free technical support and access to consulting support at preferential rates.
Origins Scripting
Origins Scripting utilises Windows PowerShell scripting tools supplied with the Windows 7 set of operating systems. This option facilitates the scheduled automated appending of Origins codes. For example the user may wish to schedule fortnightly, monthly or quarterly processing of new customers. Export options and processing speeds are comparable to the Origins Desktop Software.
Origins Real-Time Appending
This facility allows organisations to seamlessly integrate real-time appending of Origins codes into existing customer touchpoint systems, such as a call centre, a website, or at point-of-sale.
Information can be used to trigger an action, tailor an offer, or route a customer call to a service representative who is competent in optimising the experience of customers from particular cultural backgrounds. Or it can simply be used to populate a database with an intention of subsequent analysis or action.
Extending the capability of Origins Real-Time Appending, customers may develop a decision matrix with Origins data combined with one or more other pieces of data – such as gender, a geodemographic code, a wealth indicator, or other behavioural data. This solution is designed for organisations that would like to ‘treat’ different customers differently.
Real-Time Appending delivers a simple way of managing customers in ways that reflect their likely needs as a consumer, or the organisation’s objectives with different market segments. It simplifies the complexity of multiple variables and creates a small number of actions that may be relevant for an organisation or a campaign.
Each unique combination of variables will be assigned one of a manageable number of ‘treatments’ (or decisions) that trigger the most appropriate offer, message or product to a customer with a particular combination of attributes.
A further advantage of the Origins Real-Time Appending approach is that the Origins code does not need to be stored on the customer file because processing and decisioning occur in real-time.
Origins for In-Language Media
Origins codes can be configured specifically to support organisations that consider language to be a key component of product demand. Origins CEL codes allow an inference of the most likely language associated with particular name combinations.
Organisations promoting travel products, pay-tv, internet-protocol television (IPTV), or telephony services can quantify their opportunity to offer language-based media to existing customers - and then create efficiently targeted campaigns that are most likely to hit the mark. With an accurate cultural and language perspective of existing customers, clients can target cross-sell or acquisition promotions and create relevant messages that work best for the target audience.
Origins Web Mapping
Using a dedicated web address and a secure log-in process, Origins data is customised to reflect an organisation’s context and objectives, and mapped at the level of the Mesh Block or any other standard unit of geography.
The Mesh Block is a small unit of geography containing between 30 and 60 households and has been developed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Origins Web Mapping displays the distribution and concentration of Origins cultural (or language) segments across the whole of Australia, or for any part of Australia that is more relevant. The mapping solution can be further customised to display organisation-specific data such as branch locations.
Origins Web Mapping offers an easy-to-use, low-cost mapping option for organisations that need the benefit of map visualisation but lack the resources for dedicated development.
Licence Pricing
Licence pricing varies according to specification of requirements, deliverables and scope of use. A quotation can be developed to meet the needs of individual organisations.
