What Is Origins?
Origins analyses an organisation’s customer database and matches the personal and family names of customers to the Origins database of over 3 million unique, globally-sourced names. It then categorises them according to their most likely cultural and ancestral origin.
This robust database has been developed from comprehensive data sources covering around 1.2 billion individuals from around the world. This is complemented by data resulting from many years of genealogical, ancestral and local history research into the meaning and origin of names and naming conventions for major regions across the globe. This produces reliable output that classifies over 99 percent of customers to their most likely ancestral origin.
Origins separately evaluates the personal name and the family name. It then makes a balanced assessment of the name combination, determines the most likely cultural origin and reports the information in broad cultural groupings to give an overview of the cultural mix of your customer base.
