The results confirmed a strong Anglo-Celtic bias with 70% of registrations bearing names of that origin. This compares with only 50% of names in the Northern League catchment area having Anglo-Celtic names. This outcome is balanced by an under-representation in most CALD groups. In particular, names of Islamic, Slavic, Greek and Hispanic origin are markedly under-represented compared with the availability of these groups in the catchment. This establishes a benchmark that will allow the AFL to measure progress towards greater inclusivity.
